The 2023 Aarhus Workshop in Breast Surgery has focus on Therapeutic mammoplasty, Invasive lobular carcinoma, and HER2 low breast cancer.

The keynote speaker on Therapeutic mammoplasty is Ashutosh Kothari from Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, London. He will give a general overview of the methods including selection of patients, preoperative planning, and evaluation of the oncological and aesthetic outcome. Other aspects of the oncoplastic procedures as evaluation of perfusion by indocyanine Green angiography, radiotherapy after oncoplastic surgery, and patient reported outcome will also be covered in separate talks.  

Keynote speaker on the second, theme invasive lobular carcinoma, is Jorge Reis-Filho from memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, New York. He will address the question: What is so special about lobular carcinoma? Other talks will focus specific on lymph node involvement, imaging, and the role of multigene prognostic tests in lobular carcinoma.

HER2 low breast cancer attaches increasing attention and biological, pathological, and oncological aspects will be covered in the third session. A detailed programme covering theme will be announced soon.

On day two there will as usual be sessions with video presentations and case presentations.

The separate nurse programme includes three sessions: 1) Lymphedema with keynote speaker Kerry Sherman from Macquarie University, Sidney, Australia, talking about Living with lymphedema; 2) Vulnerability and inequality among breast cancer patients; and 3) Digital solutions, challenges and health skills in breast cancer care with the keynote speaker Lars Kayser from Health Informatics and Innovation University of Copenhagen.
